The following changes to the Dryden District DLUG is recommended to recognize the decision to not proceed with regulating this area as a provincial park: Recommended Changes to General Policies in the Dryden District Land Use Guidelines Section 6. PROVINCIAL PARKS (pg 32-33) Amend the paragraph titled as (ii) Historical to read: "Comprehesive studies dealing with the representation of historical resource themes relevant to the Northwestern Region are lacking. One area that was identified for historical resource representation is located in the Dryden District in the Goldrock area. At the time, this area was felt to constitute the best surviving example of mining and milling associated with the Northwestern Ontario Boundary Waters Gold theme. However, further analysis of the Goldrock area in the mid-to-late 1980's, indicated that regulating the site as a provincial park was not feasible. This was due to the presence of potential mine hazards on the site, land tenure issues and the remaining high potential for further mineral occurrences. As a result the Goldrock area is now included in the surrounding area, Upper Manitou, Boyer Lakes." Table 3 CANDIDATE PARK RECOMMENDATIONS (pg 34) Strike the reference to Goldrock from this table. Table 3 SUMMARY OF TARGET ACHIEVEMENT (pg 40) Strike the words "Historical Theme Segment - NW Ontario Boundary Waters Gold Historical Theme" from the column titled ' District Target (year 2000), from this table. Recommended Changes to Section D: land use areas - guidelines in the Dryden District Land Use Guidelines Strike section 4. GOLDROCK (pg 51) in its entirety. Recommended Changes to Map 2: Dryden District Area Descriptions (pg 43) and the larger map inside the back cover in the Dryden District Land Use Guidelines Delete Area 4 from these maps, and incorporate the Goldrock area into Area 10, Upper Manitou, Boyer Lakes Area. The Goldrock area will be incorporated into Area 10. Upper Manitou, Boyer Lakes Area and the land use policies of that area will apply. |
